Norwich City will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to four games in the EFL Championship when they play host to Cardiff City at Carrow Road on Saturday. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 4-2 victory versus Watford on Tuesday night, while the Bluebirds suffered a 2-0 defeat at West Bromwich Albion last time out. The Canaries are currently occupying seventh spot in the English second tier standings, having collected 48 points from 32 games, level on points with sixth-placed Coventry City, but separated by goal-difference. The visitors, meanwhile, have a game in hand over the home side, but are sitting at the 14th position, with 40 points to their name, 11 away from the relegation zone.

Norwich made a bright start to the new year, recording two draws and three wins from their first five games of 2024. But then faltered a little bit, losing back-to-back fixtures against the likes of Leeds and Liverpool in the Championship and FA Cup respectively. Nevertheless, the Canaries got back on track with wins over Coventry and Watford, either side of an away-draw versus Queens Park Rangers. David Wagner’s side secured their 14th Championship-win of the season against the Hornets on Tuesday thanks to one goal each from Ashley Barnes, Josh Sargent, Gabriel Sara and Christian Fassnacht. Meanwhile, the East Anglian outfit boast the sixth-best home-record in the division this term, collecting 32 points from 16 games at Carrow Road.
Cardiff, on the other hand, have lost six of their last eight games in all competitions. After securing a surprise 1-0 win away to Watford earlier this month, the Bluebirds suffered successive 2-0 defeats versus Preston North End and West Brom. Michael Johnston’s first-minute opener and Andreas Weimann’s effort ten minutes from time handed Erol Bulut’s side their 15th Championship defeat of the campaign on Tuesday. There is now an eight point gap to sixth place. Meanwhile, Cardiff’s away-form in the league hasn’t been very poor, having taken 20 points from 16 games on the road.
Norwich City probable starting lineup: Gunn, Stacey, Batth, Gibson, Giannoulis, Sara, McLean, Fassnacht, Barnes, Sainz, Sargent
Cardiff City probable starting lineup: Horvath, Goutas, Phillips, Collins, Ng, Wintle, Siopis, Wilson-Ebrand, Ramsey, Etete, Diedhiou
