Preston North End will be looking to extend their winning run to four games in the EFL Championship when they play host to Blackburn Rovers at Deepdale on Saturday. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 2-1 victory versus Middlesbrough in the mid-week, while the Riversiders suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Birmingham City last time out. The impressive run of form has helped the Lilywhites to move to ninth spot in the English second tier standings, having pocketed 48 points from 32 games, level on points with sixth-placed Coventry City but separated by goal-difference. The visitors, meanwhile, are languishing at the 16th position, with 36 points to their name from 31 league matches, seven clear of the relegation zone.

Preston began the month of February with a thrilling 3-2 victory over promotion challengers Ipswich Town, before getting the better Cardiff City and Middlesbrough with an aggregate scoreline of 4-1. The Lilywhites secured all three of points versus Boro on Wednesday night thanks to one effort each from Liam Millar and Emil Riis Jakobsen either side of Finn Isaac Azaz’s equaliser. It was the Invincibles’ 14th second tier victory of the season and Ryan Lowe’s men have now won four of their last five fixtures at Deepdale, taking their tally to 29 points from a possible 48 in front of their own supporters.
Blackburn, on the other hand, have been a bit hot and cold in the last couple of weeks, recording two wins, two defeats and two draws from their previous six outings in all competitions. The Riversiders have won 11 Championship games this season and their last success came versus Stoke City on February 10 thanks to Tyrhys Dolan’s brace and one effort from Sammie Szmodics. But three days later John Eustace’s men lost out to Birmingham at St Andrew’s courtesy of Andre Dozzell’s lone goal 13 minutes from time. Moreover, it was Blackburn’s six consecutive Championship defeat on the road, conceding 18 goals and scoring just four in the process. Meanwhile, on a positive note, the Riversiders have won two of their last three visits to Deepdale, with the last one ending in a 1-1 draw in April last year.
