Nice will host Maccabi Tel Aviv in the second leg of their Europa conference League qualifying playoff at the Allianz Riviera on Thursday. The first leg at Bloomfield last week had ended 1-0 in favour of Maccabi Tel Aviv courtesy of Stipe Perica’s 74th-minute goal. After that win, the Yellows thrashed Maccabi Bnei Raina 5-0 in an Israeli Premier League fixture last sunday. Nice, meanwhile, are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 defeat to Clermont Foot on the same day.

Nice haven’t made a great start to the 2022-23 Ligue 1 campaign, not recording a single victory in their opening three games. In their recent outing against Clermont foot, Sadie Eddine Khaoui’s 6th-minute strike separated the two sides and handed Nice their first league defeat of the season. The Eaglets had finished fith in the league standings last term to secure a place in the Europa conference League playoffs.
Maccabi Tel Aviv, on the other hand, kicked off their 2022-23 Israeli Premier League campaign with a five-star victory against Maccabi Bnei Raina. Dorde Jovanovic and Perica netted a brace, while Avi Raikan scored one goal for the Yellows to secure all three points. Maccabi had gotten the better of Zira and Aris in the previous rounds of the Europa conference League qualifiers.
Nice had a busy summer transfer, signing the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Kasper Schmeichel among others to bolster the squad.
