Nashville SC will host Portland Timbers in a Major League Soccer (MLS) fixture at GEODIS Park on Sunday. The hosts are heading into the tie on the back of a penalty-shootout defeat against Orlando City in the US Open Cup quarter-final fixture last Wednesday. Meanwhile Portland Timbers secured a narrow 2-1 win over Houston Dynamo in an MLS match on June 29. Nashville defeated DC United 3-1 in their last MLS fixture on June 26. At Audi Field, Nashville took an early lead through Daniel Lovitz before Harry Mokhtar netted a brace to take a three goal lead. Although DC United pulled one back through Taxiarchid Fountas on the hour-mark, it proved to be just a consolation goal. Portland, on the other hand, got the better of Houston Dynamo courtesy of a brace by Santiago Moreno. Giovanni Savarese’ side is now playing more aggressive football in the opposition penalty area.

Las game’s double-goal hero Mukhtar would lead Nashville’s attack alongside Sapong. Lovitz and Anunga are likely to occupy the flanks with Haakenson playing the number 10’s role.
