Nashville defeated DC United 3-1 in their last MLS fixture on June 26. At Audi Field, Nashville took an early lead through Daniel Lovitz before Harry Mokhtar netted a brace to take a three goal lead. Although DC United pulled one back through Taxiarchid Fountas on the hour-mark, it proved to be just a consolation goal. Portland, on the other hand, got the better of Houston Dynamo courtesy of a brace by Santiago Moreno. Giovanni Savarese’ side is now playing more aggressive football in the opposition penalty area.
Las game’s double-goal hero Mukhtar would lead Nashville’s attack alongside Sapong. Lovitz and Anunga are likely to occupy the flanks with Haakenson playing the number 10’s role. Meanwhile Robert Castellanos and Handwalla Bwana are sidelined with injuries. As for Portland, Diego Guiterrez and Cristhian Paredes are out with injuries. Mora would be Portland’s target-man with Moreno, Blanco and Y. Charo in support.
Nashville SC probable line-up: Willis; Romney, Zimmerman, Maher; Lovitz, McCarty, Leal, Anunga; Haakenson; Sapong, Mukhtar
Portland Timbers probable line-up: Ivacic; Van Rankin, Mabiala, Zuparic, Bravo; D. Chara, Williamson; Moreno, Blanco, Y. Chara; Mora
