Minnesota United will host Real Salt Lake in a Major League Soccer (MLS) fixture at allianz Field on Sunday. The hosts are heading into the tie on the back of a thrilling 3-2 win at LA Galaxy last Wednesday, while Real Salt Lake were held to a goalless draw against Columbus. Real Salt Lake sit at the third spot in the Western Conference table with 29 points from 17 games, while the Loons are languishing at the 11th place with 21 points. Meanwhile Minnesota have failed to win any of their last four meetings against the Claret and Cobalt since 2020.

At the Dignity Health Sports Park on Thursday, Minnesota went three goals ahead inside the opening 45 minutes courtesy of a brace from Emanuel Reynoso and one goal from Franco Gragapane. Although Marky Delgado and Dejan Joveljic netted in the second half to reduce the deficit, Minnesota secured all three points. Prior to that, Adrian Heath’s men were on a three-game losing streak in the MLS,suffering defeats at the hands of New York City FC, New England Revolution and Inter Miami respectively.

Real Salt Lake, on the other hand failed to make it two back-to-back wins when Columbus displayed a strong defensive game plan to share the spoils at Rio Tinto stadium. Prior to that, Pablo Mastroeni’s side were on a four-game winning streak at home, scoring eight goals and keeping three clean sheets in that time. However, the Claret and Corbet’s away form hasn’t been very great, registering just wins from their last 11 games on the run across all competitions.
