At the Dignity Health Sports Park on Thursday, Minnesota went three goals ahead inside the opening 45 minutes courtesy of a brace from Emanuel Reynoso and one goal from Franco Gragapane. Although Marky Delgado and Dejan Joveljic netted in the second half to reduce the deficit, Minnesota secured all three points. Prior to that, Adrian Heath’s men were on a three-game losing streak in the MLS,suffering defeats at the hands of New York City FC, New England Revolution and Inter Miami respectively.
Real Salt Lake, on the other hand failed to make it two back-to-back wins when Columbus displayed a strong defensive game plan to share the spoils at Rio Tinto stadium. Prior to that, Pablo Mastroeni’s side were on a four-game winning streak at home, scoring eight goals and keeping three clean sheets in that time. However, the Claret and Corbet’s away form hasn’t been very great, registering just wins from their last 11 games on the run across all competitions.
Minnesota United’s midfielder Joseph Rosales would be unavailable for selection after receiving a red card in the previous outing. Meanwhile the American duo of Hassani Dotson and Patrick Weah are both recovering from ACL injuries. Amarilla is expected to lead the attack with Fragapane, Reynoso and Lod in support. As for Real Salt Lake, Bret Halsey and Zack Framsworth are sidelined with ACL injuries. Rubin and Cordova would lead their attack with Savarino and Meram occupying the flanks.
