The victory helped the Italian outfit to move to nine points from three games and take a three point lead over second-placed Ajax in Group A.

Napoli are heading into the match on the back of a dominant 4-1 win over Cremonese in a Serie A match on Saturday. Matteo Politano opened the scoring from the penalty spot, inside the opening 26 minutes, before Simeone, Hirving Lozano and Mathias Olivera netted in the final 15 minutes to seal the win. It was the Blues’ seventh league win of the season in nine games, taking their tally to 23 points, two points ahead of second placed Atalanta in the Italian top flight standings. Napoli’s first two Champions League games of the season, ended in stunning victories against Liverpool (4-1) and Rangers (3-0).
Ajax, on the other hand, started off their European campaign with a thumping 4-0 win over Rangers, before suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat of Liverpool. Nine games into the 2022-23 season, the Dutch outfit lie second in the Eredivisie standings, having recorded seven wins to collect 22 points, just one point adrift of leaders AZ Alkmaar. Last time out, the Sons of Gods beat FC Volendam 4-2 courtesy of goals from Dusan Tadic, Calvin Bassey, Brian Bobbey and Davy Klaassen.

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is likely to return after recovering from injury. The Nigeria international is expected to feature on the bench. Meanwhile Amir Rahmani is doubtful because of an injury. Leo Ostigard is in line to replace Rahmani in the back-four consisting of Kim, Di Lorenzo and Rui. As for Ajax, captain Dusan Tadic is unavailable for Wednesday’s game because of suspension. Kudus could lead the line with Ocampos and Bergwijn in support.
