Atletico Madrid will host Club Brugge in a UEFA Champions League fixture at Metropolitano Stadium on Wednesday. The reverse fixture between these two sides last week ended in a 2-0 victory for Club Brugge, courtesy of goals from Kamal Sowah and Feran Jutgla. The result helped the Belgian outfit to maintain their top spot in Group B, having collected a perfect nine points from three games, while Atletico are languishing at the bottom of the table, with just three points.

Atletico are heading into the match on the back of a 2-1 win over Girona in a La Liga match on Saturday. Angel Correa netted a brace for Diego Simeone’s side to secure the win, moving to 16 points from eight games, sitting at the fourth position in the La Liga table. Meanwhile, in the European stage, Atletico started off with a dramatic 2-1 win over Porto, before losing two successive games against Bayer Leverkusen and Club Brugge. The Spanish outfit needs to get their acts together, because a poor result on Wednesday would leave them in a difficult position to qualify for the knockout stages.
Club Brugge, on the other hand, are in a strong position to progress to the round of 16 stage. The Belgian outfit kicked off their Champions League campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Leverkusen, before thrashing Porto 4-0, and then got the better of Atletico. Hoefkens’s side are yet to concede a Champions League goal this season. Meanwhile Blau-Zwart are heading into the match on the back of a 2-0 defeat to Westerlo in a Belgian Pro League match on Saturday.
Atletico’s injury list consists of Sergio Reguilon, Marcos Llorente and Felipe. Antoine Griezmann, who recently extended his contract till 2026, is likely to lead the line, alongside Correa. Axel Witsel could sit in front of the back-three, with Nahuel Molina and Carasco occupying the flanks. As for Brugge, Hoefkens is unlikely to make too many changes to the side that started in Bruges last week. Jutgla and Sowah might partner up front with Vanaken and Onyedika pulling the strings in the midfield.
Atletico Madrid probable starting lineup: Oblak, Molina, Savic, Gimenez, Reinildo, Carrasco, Koke, Witsel, Lemar, Griezmann, Correa
Club Brugge probable starting lineup: Mognolet, Odoi, Mechele, Sylla, Meijer, Buchanan, Vanaken, Onyedika, Nielsen, Jutgla, Sowah
