Leicester saw their five-game winning run come to an end against second-placed Ipswich Town on Boxing Day. But the Foxes quickly returned to winning by defeating Cardiff at Cardiff City Stadium on Friday night thanks to two unanswered goals from Kieran Dewsbury-Hall and James Justin. Enzo Maresca’s side have now extended their unbeaten run to nine games in the Championship, scoring 21 goals and keeping four clean sheets in the period. Moreover, Maresca’s side have won each of their last four fixtures at King Power Stadium with an aggregate scoreline of 12-3.
Huddersfield, on the other hand, have recorded five wins, ten draws and ten defeats from 25 league games so far, and their latest success came against Blackburn Rovers on Boxing Day. The Terriers netted three times without reply against the Riversiders thanks Jaheim Headley’s 28th-minute opener and second-half efforts from Sorba Thomas and Delano Burgzorg. Although the result ended their five-game winless run, Darren Moore’s men couldn’t build on that success, losing out to Middlesbrough on Friday night despite the fact that Michael Helik canceled out Josh Coburn’s 54th-minute opener. Boro midfielder Jonny Howson scored the winner six minutes from time to hand Huddersfield their second defeat from last three outings.
