Chelsea have struggled this season on multiple fronts after making a massive overhaul in the summer window. Mauricio Pochettino’s arrival before the new campaign was met with a lot of optimism, however, the results have not been what the club supporters would have liked. Just like last season, the Blues are struggling big time for consistency this term too. There are various reasons behind their below-par run till now.

One of them is the number of injuries Chelsea have struggled so far this season. They have had multiple players on the sidelines owing to injuries at different points in this campaign. Some of the new arrivals have also missed a few games through injuries. One such player is Romeo Lavia. After missing the start of the season, Lavia appeared to be back in the Chelsea fold of late. However, he picked up a knock during the Crystal Palace win in midweek.

Romeo Lavia’s injury update

Providing an update on Lavia’s situation, Mauricio Pochettino, quoted on the club’s website, said, “Lavia felt something and we need to check and hope it’s not too bad. We are a little bit worried because if you watch the game [against Crystal Palace] I had to change his position with (Conor) Gallagher at the end because he was struggling to run. We will see what is going on. We hope it’s not a big issue and he can be with us again. He’s an important player that we recovered, and it’s going to be a shame if we cannot use him in the next few games.”

Chelsea have a tricky Premier League contest away to Luton Town coming next. Manager Pochettino has explained why he is looking forward to the trip to Kenilworth Road. “I am an old man, I am a romantic, I love the football of the past. This type of stadium makes you remember when you started to play, stadiums that smell different. They are not luxurious in the way we recognise luxury today, but you love being there. It is history. It is different. You feel the real football,” he stated.

He added: “I am happy to go to play there because it’s going to be good for our young team, a good experience. Luton are a team that loves to fight, that works really hard. If you watch the last few games in their stadium, it was tough for all the opponents. If we want to get a good result, we need to be ready to play our football but first we need to match their desire and their capacity to fight for every single ball. It will be a good test for us.”

Pochettino also underlined what the Blues must do in their upcoming game to get all three points. “We have struggled a little bit with teams like Luton. So it is a good challenge. I am happy to go to play there because it’ll be a good experience for our young team. If we want to win, we need to fight, be clever, and be focused. Then we can play our football in the way we know,” he elaborated.
