Lazio will host Sassuolo in a Serie A fixture at Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the reverse fixture between these two sides in January ended 2-0 in favour of the Eagles. After recording four consecutive wins with an aggregate scoreline of 8-1, Lazio have suffered back-to-back defeats against Torino and Inter. Sassuolo, on the other hand, are looking to secure a top half finish this term. Neroverdi came from behind to secure all three points against Empoli last time out thanks to substitute Domenic Berardi’s brace in the last ten minutes, including a dramatic 97th-minute winner from the penalty spot. The Black and Greens have now won seven of their last ten outings in the top flight, while it was their 12th league-win of the season. After the game against Lazio, the Watermelon Peel will take on Bologna, Inter, Monza and Sampdoria before ending the season at home against Fiorentina.
Lazio will be looking to complete a Serie A double over Sassuolo for the first time in five years. Meanwhile, Wednesday’s fixture at Stadio Olimpico will be the 15th-meeting between these to sides. Lazio has a clear advantage when it comes to the head-to-head, having won 11 times, compared to just five wins for the Watermelon Peel, while three meeting ended in draws.
