Sivasspor will host Fenerbahce in the first leg of their Turkish Cup semi-final tie at New 4 Eylul Stadium on Wednesday. This will be the second meeting between these two sides in the space of four days. The Yellow Canaries claimed a 3-1 victory over Riza Calimbay’s side in the Super Lig on Saturday. The Beacon of Light scored three goals in the first half through Diego Rossi, Ferdi Kardioglu and Irfan Kahveci. Meanwhile Saivasspor scored a consolation goal through Jordy Caicedo’s 76th-minute effort. Fenerbahce have now completed the double over the Braves this season.

Prior to the defeat, Sivasspor secured back-to-back wins against Trabzonspor and Antalyaspor. Having won ten of their 31 top flight games this term, the Braves are currently languishing at the tenth spot in the Turkish Super Lig standings. Meanwhile, Yigidos have done well in the Turkish Cup, kicked off their campaign with a 5-2 victory over minnows Esenler Erokspor before defeating Karacabey Belediyespor 3-0, and they were handed a bye into the last four stage after drawing Gaziantep in the quarter-finals. The reigning champions will definitely fancy their chances of reaching back-to-back finals.
Fenerbahce, on the other hand, are in stunning form, having won five of their last six outings across all competitions. The Yellow Canaries thrashed Kayserispor 4-1 in the Turkish Cup quarterfinal match last month courtesy of Emre Mor’s first-half brace and one goal each from Serdar Dursum, Arda Guler in the second half. After that, the Beacon of light recorded four consecutive league-wins before sharing the spoils against Istanbulspor AS and then got the better of Sivasspor last time out. Fenerbahce have now moved to second spot in the top flight standings, having collected 67 points from 30 games, just three adrift of the leaders Galatasaray. It is also worth noting that Jorge Jesus’s men have netted at least two goals in each of their last eight games across all competitions, highlighting the teams attacking strength.
