Getafe will host Almeria in a La Liga fixture at Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Wednesday. Both sides are heading into the match on the back of defeats in their respective games this weekend, with the hosts losing 3-1 away to Mallorca, while Almeria were beaten 2-1 by Athletic Bilbao. As of now, the two clubs are separated by just one point in the Spanish top flight standings, with Getafe languishing at the 16th spot having collected 31 points from 30 games, while the visitors are sitting one place behind Azulones, and out of the relegation zone only on goal-difference. Meanwhile, the reverse fixture in November last year ended 1-0 in favour of Almeria thanks to Leo Baptistao’s first-half effort.

Getafe suffered their 13th league-defeat of the season against Mallorca on Sunday despite taking the lead through Borja Mayoral’s 23rd-minute opener. The result extended their unbeaten run to four games, losing two in the period. Azuolones have won only seven top flight matches this term and their latest success came against Sevilla last month just before the international break. In Getafe’s final fight matches, they will face five sides in the bottom eight, and they will need to secure as many positive results as possible in order to avoid relegation.
Almeria, on the other hand, have won only one of their last seven matches, collecting just five points in the period. The poor run of form has put them on the edge of relegation. Meanwhile, Rubi’s men have the worst away record in the league, having not tasted victory in 14 outings, while collecting just four points on the road so far. With only one clean sheet in 2023 coming in a surprise win over leaders Barcelona in February, conceding goals continues to be an issue, having conceded 52 times, only better than rock-bottom side Elche.
Getafe probable starting lineup: David Soria, D Suarez, Djene, Duarte, Alderete, Juan Iglesias, Luis Milla, Maksimovic, Munir, Unal, Borja Mayoral
Almeria probable starting lineup: Martinez, Kaiky, Chumi, Babic, Puigmal, Robertone, Melero, Costa, Centelles, Leo Baptistao, L Suarez
