Coventry started this month with a 2-1 Championship defeat away to Norwich City. It was their eighth second tier defeat of the campaign, but the Sky Blues quickly bounced back with back-to-back wins over Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall, in the FA Cup and league respectively. Though, Mark Robins’ men were forced to share the spoils at Plymouth Argyle on February 14, they recorded their 13th second tier victory of the campaign versus Stoke on Saturday. Ellis Simms’ lone goal six minutes into the second half helped Coventry take all three points at Bet365 Stadium and extend their unbeaten run to four games in all competitions, winning three fixtures in the period. Moreover, Coventry have been solid at home this season, having lost only once and conceded just 14 goals in 16 league fixtures at Coventry Building Society Arena.
Preston, on the other hand, are heading into the match on the back of a four-game unbeaten run in the Championship, recording three successive wins against the likes of Ipswich Town, Cardiff City and Middlesbrough in the process. On Saturday, the Lilywhites saw their three-game winning run come to and versus Blackburn despite the fact that Robbie Brady and Emil Riis Jakobsen found the back of the net in the first-half. Ryan Lowe’s side have now taken 11 points from a possible 15. Nevertheless, still sitting five points adrift of sixth-placed Hull City, Preston remain very much in the conversation for promotion, with 13 rounds of fixtures remaining.
