Ange Postecoglou has been at the centre of speculation with rumours linking him with a potential move from Scottish side Celtic to Tottenham Hotspur. It does not come as a surprise that Spurs are interested in the head coach. After taking charge in the summer of 2021, he has played an important role in Celtic’s turnaround in fortunes. He has also won successive Premiership titles with the Scottish giants in this period.

With Tottenham Hotspur in the market to hire a new manager, Ange Postecoglou ticks all the right boxes for them. His teams have normally done well under his management and have also played a good brand of football. However, Postecoglou is not getting distracted about a potential move away from the club, as he remains completely focused on the Scottish Cup final against Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday.

“It doesn’t register. I get that people love to speculate on these things but we’ve worked really, really hard to get ourselves into this position. For me to let my mind wander about anything else other than getting our team prepared for a big day on Saturday, it’s just not who I am,” Postecoglou was quoted as saying by skysports.com.

It doesn’t enter sphere of thinking: Ange Postecoglou

Ange Postecoglou also believes that speculations like these do not affect his players, as they are used to it. “We’ve done this dance a few times this year so I think the players are well aware of where my thoughts lie. Whatever it is, the players are really good at just focusing on what’s important – and what’s important is getting ready for a big game on Saturday,” he stated.

“It doesn’t enter sphere of thinking my because my role is to make sure my team is absolutely prepared for whatever the next challenge is. Far be it from me to say that if a cup final isn’t enough for me to draw all my attention to that then nothing will be.”

The Celtic manager has insisted that he has not thought about talking to the board after the final since his thoughts are entirely occupied by Saturday’s match alone. “No because that would mean me planning, organising, thinking about anything other than Saturday,” he added.

“I understand that’s your job to ask these questions because that’s the role you’re in, but you’re not invested in this football club like I am, like the players are and the supporters are. For me I woke up this morning thinking about one thing, the same thing I’ve been thinking about for the last seven days – we want to make sure we play well in this cup final and make it a truly special season.”
