French Open 2024: Satwik/Chirag shine in the finals to clinch maiden title of 2024

Top ranked duo Chirag-Satwik won the French open Title 2024 by deafeating Lee Jhe-Huei and Yang Po-Hsuan from Chinese Taipei in 40 minutes.

Satwiksairaj and Chirag Shetty, who are currently the world’s No. 1 ranked men’s doubles team, won the French Open in just 40 minutes. They defeated Lee Jhe-Huei and Yang Po-Hsuan from Chinese Taipei by a score of 21-11, 21-17. This was the second time that Chirag-Satwik had won the French Open, and it was the first tournament win for them in the 2024 season.

The Top ranked Indian duo cleared the victory in just two games against the duo ranking No.16 in the French Opens Finals 2024, this made their eighth title on the BWF World Tour, Chirag-Satwik has lost three straight BWF finals but in the French Open finals they dominated with an easy victory in 40 minutes.

However, the Chinese Taipei players Lee Jhe-Huei and Yang Po-Hsuan showcased a poor start in the first game and the Indian Duo was easily able to dominate them and won by 21-11. In the second game, the Chinese Taipei shuttlers started with some attacking and intense game which gave them a lead of 4-1. The misjudgment and a few service errors by the Chinese error made the comeback of Chirag and Satwik in the game.

Earlier The Indian Duo defeated world championships bronze medallists Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi in their opening match and in the semi-finals, Chirag-Satwik defeated world champions Kang Min Hyuk-Seo Seung Jae and made their way to the Finals of the French Open 2024.

Top Ranked Indian duo Chirag-Satwik won the Swiss Open, the Indonesia Open, and the Korea Open last year but suffered setbacks in the Malaysia and India Open finals before winning the French Open Title. This was Chirag-Satwik’s third final on the BWF World Tour this year.

Chirag-Satwik will be looking forward to the All England Open BWF Super 1000 badminton tournament which will be starting on Tuesday and also to the Orleans Masters, a BWF Super 300 event, which is going to be held next week.

Winning the French Open Finals 2024 will boost Chirag-Satwik’s chances of qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics, as their victory will count towards the qualification ranking for the Olympics. The qualification window for badminton opened on May 1 of the previous year and will close in April.
