Indian badminton player Kidambi Srikanth’s impressive run at the 2024 Swiss Open Badminton tournament came to an end in the semifinals after a hard-fought three-game match against Lin Chun-Yi of Chinese Taipei. Srikanth lost by 15-21, 21-9, 21-18.

In the first game, Srikant managed to maintain a steady lead and won by scoring a few successive points, despite both players having equal dominance over each other. Srikant is ranked 27th in the world. In the second game, Lin Chun-Yi, who is ranked 22nd in the world, made a comeback by scoring straight 7 points after the score of 9-7. Lin Chun-Yi won the second game with a huge difference of 21-9. In the deciding game, Srikant made a comeback, but Lin Chun-Yi’s skill dominated Srikant and Lin Chun-Yi won the game by 21-18.

This was a significant tournament for Srikanth as it marked his first semifinal appearance in a BWF tournament in over 16 months. According to the reports, this was his first such feat since November 2022. Srikanth had been struggling with form in recent times, and this tournament win was a sign of his return to form. He had defeated Chia Hao Lee of Chinese Taipei and Lee Zii Jia of Malaysia, raising hopes of fans for a strong finish. However, he fell short in the crucial semifinal match against Lin Chun-Yi.

Srikanth may have lost in the Swiss Open, but his performance is a positive sign for his future career. The Indian shuttler has presented his old form and will be looking to build on this performance in upcoming tournaments.
