The 2024 Thomas and Uber Cup is just around the corner and the entire badminton world is waiting for the all-important draws. This year’s tournament will be played in Chengdu, China from April 28 to May 5. The last time the Thomas Cup was played out, a new team emerged victorious in the form of India. Naturally, the defending champions will be one of the favourites to lift the trophy once more.
Thomas and Uber Cup will be testing grounds for many upcoming badminton stars around the world. This prestigious competition will also be testing grounds for many seasoned shuttlers ahead of the Paris Olympics.
The 16 men and 16 women teams were drawn into four groups of four. For the Thomas Cup draw, the teams were allocated to four pots based on the World Team Rankings. Pot 1 contained the top seed China, the second seed Japan and the next two best teams, Denmark and Indonesia.
Pot 2 contained the next best four teams, Pot 3 contained the ninth to twelfth seeds, and Pot 4 for the thirteenth to sixteenth seeds. A similar procedure was applied for the Uber Cup draw, where the top seed China. On the other hand, the second seeds, South Korea, Japan and Thailand were also in Pot 1. A similar process was followed after this.

The draw ceremony of Thomas and Uber Cup 2024 will be available on BWF TV YouTube channel. Indian badminton fans can also enjoy it from BWF’s Facebook page as well. On the other hand, the Chinese audience will be able to watch the draw on BWF Weibo.
The programme would commence at 2:30 PM (IST). The draws for Uber Cup will take place at 3:05 PM IST and the draws for Thomas Cup will be announced at 3:25 PM IST.
