The BWF Tour action will be shifting its course from Chinese Taipei to Canada now. On Tuesday, July 4, 2023, the BWF Super 500 tournament Canada Open will begin. After the Taipei Open 2023, this is another competition that will include the best players in the world. The Canada Open 2023 will be the 58th edition of the tournament. It is the 9th tournament on the 2023 BWF Super Series 500 and the 15th on the World Tour. Interestingly, this will be the last Super 500 competition. Therefore, the competition in this tournament will be huge. This international tournament will take place inside the Markin-MacPhail Centre in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The opening day of Canada open will see the start of the Qualifiers for the Round of 32. There is no Qualifier for the Women’s Doubles.

For the Indian contingent former world junior silver medallist Lakshya Sen and two-time Olympic champion PV Sindhu are set to lead the Indian contingent at the. However, several top players have given the competition a miss: HS Prannoy, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy & Chirag Shetty, and Gayatri & Jolly. In the women’s doubles, all eyes will be on the Panda sisters. Rutaparna and Swetaparna will be up against home contenders Jacqueline Cheung and Jeslyn Chow. Another doubles pair from India is the pair of Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponappa. The opening round of the tournament will see S. Subramanian in action against Y. Coelho de Oliveira from Brazil. The cameras will also focus towards Kashyap Parupalli who is trying to make a comeback in the international arena.
