Former WWE World Champion The Great Khali is a real-life giant and when he made his debut in the WWE, people were shocked looking at the sheer size of the man. It was clear from the very first sighting of this behemoth that he was a once in a lifetime superstar. Khali’s very first feud was with none other than The Undertaker. The way he faced up to the Deadman and dismantled him was a shock to wrestling fans not only in the arena but throughout the world. Speaking to WWE Now India, Khali revealed that he looked up to The Undertaker for inspiration.

He said “I started wrestling after watching The Undertaker. He was my inspiration to get into the business. It was such a memorable moment for me (defeating The Undertaker). It was a challenging match for me but it was equally momentous. It’s very close to my heart.” The two men feuded for over two months and their rivalry culminated when The Undertaker defeated Khali in a Last Man Standing match on an episode of SmackDown.

Khali wants to make India proud

In the very same interview, Khali also stated his passion for wrestling and why he started a wrestling school in India. He also said that he hopes to lay down a better road for aspiring wrestlers from India. He said, “It was my dream to start an academy in India. Since I was a wrestler myself, I did not want to be the last wrestler from India to join WWE. I wanted more young wrestlers from India to go to WWE to make India proud. I had a very hard time when I started my journey. Going from India, getting a visa in the US, finding a good academy to get trained. It was a tough path for me.

He continued, “I also did not have much money. So it was my dream from that time. I went to the US in 2000. My dream was to remove all these barriers and perils for the next generation. So I always had in mind that if I could become something credible, I will create a wrestling academy in India to give youngsters a platform to achieve their dreams.”
