Following their victory at WrestleMania 39, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens pay tribute to PWG's Super Dragon

Both Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens mentioned the absence of PWG’s Super Dragon from the audience, sharing their wishes that the co-owner of their mutual former indie company could have seen the match in person.

WrestleMania 39 Night 1 was a momentous night for Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, who won the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships on the Grandest Stage, fulfilling a childhood goal. Furthermore, The Bloodline has begun to fray as Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens defeated The Usos to win the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships at WWE WrestleMania 39 Night One, thereby breaking their unbreakable grip on the WWE tag scene.

For Owens and Zayn, headlining WrestleMania was the pinnacle of their long careers, with both men paying respect to their former stomping grounds, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, with the PWG emblem on their tights, and Owens also paying tribute to PWG head Super Dragon on his shorts.

Speaking to BT Sport’s Airel Helwani immediately after the bout, Zayn and Owens both expressed their desire for former PWG star and promotion co-owner Super Dragon to be present.

“We actually said in the ring, ‘God, I wish Super Dragon was here’. He couldn’t be here,” Zayn shared.

Super Dragon, according to Owens, wanted to attend but couldn’t due to personal circumstances. KO made it clear to Super Dragon how much he meant to them, saying: “I texted him right before I went out, and sent him a picture of my gear…We really wouldn’t have gotten here without him. I don’t know how else to put it. He became a big brother to us right from the get-go when he took a chance on us”. H/T Wrestling Inc.

Sami Zayn compares The Bloodline’s storyline to “The Sopranos”

Sami Zayn has been a member of the WWE family for almost a decade and has continually bettered himself at every opportunity. Zayn has also managed to convert every gimmick, even his most recent one about The Bloodline, into absolute gold. During WrestleMania 39, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens defeated The Usos, and now it appears he compared The Bloodline storyline to ‘The Sopranos.’

Sami Zayn’s adventure with the Bloodline began immediately following his loss to Johnny Knoxville at WrestleMania 38. Zayn approached Roman Reigns, disappointed and seeking forgiveness, with the goal of regaining the locker room’s respect.

Sami Zayn faced the highs and lows of being a member of the Bloodline over the following year. He worked hard to earn their confidence and was finally named an Honorary Uce, an important title that showed acceptance and respect from the Samoan wrestling family. Zayn had finally gotten his footing and felt like he was moving in the right direction.

Unfortunately, things did not always go as planned for Sami Zayn, who finally betrayed Roman Reigns and The Bloodline. At WrestleMania 39 Night One, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens defeated The Usos for the Undisputed Tag Team Championships.

At the post-WrestleMania 39 press conference, Sami Zayn reflected on the year-long storyline with The Bloodline. Sami Zayn then compared the Bloodline plot to ‘The Sopranos.’ He said, “Much like you saw with television, how it kind of evolved with the golden age of television in the 2000s with HBO and things like that, and more complex and layered characters. To do this story, if I may be so bold as to offer a comparison, it’s almost like the Sopranos. It is, to WWE, what The Sopranos was to television. If I may be so bold to make that comparison.”
