This was Roman Reigns’ tenth WrestleMania match. He defended the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes. During his 11-year tenure with WWE, the 37-year-old has established himself as one of the industry’s most prominent figures.

In terms of the Universal Championship, Roman Reigns has the longest reign at 968 days and counting, but for the WWE Championship, it is 480+ days. If his unbeaten record continues, he will surpass the 1000-day mark as champion on May 27th of this year.

As Reigns is soon to write his name in BOLD as a legend when he completes 1000 days reigning as the WWE Universal Champion. He has won the championship 27 times. He has battled some of the finest competitors in WWE while also developing rising stars by providing them with unique championship opportunities. Cody Rhodes, Brock Lesnar, John Cena, and Daniel Bryan have all tested The Head of the Table and failed. In incredible battles, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and Drew McIntyre all came close to dethroning the title.

So, let’s look back at Roman Reigns’ top 5 title defenses.

5. Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar, Summerslam 2022

While The Head of the Table and The Beast Incarnate had many epic battles, their funny and chaotic tractor combat was the best of them all. From totally raising the ring to Reigns burying Lesnar behind a stack of tables and chairs, this war concluded on a spectacular note with Roman Reigns burying Brock Lesnar under the announcer’s table.

4. Roman Reigns vs Jey Uso, WWE Hell in a Cell 2020

In one of the most pivotal matches in The Bloodline’s history, Jey refused to give up until his brother Jimmy Uso intervened. The home stretch was filled with theatrics that went on much too long, but Reigns pushed Jey to one of his greatest performances.

3. Roman Reigns vs Drew McIntyre, Clash at the Castle 2022

Roman Reigns appeared unbeatable after winning the WWE Championship from Brock Lesnar and unified the Universal and WWE championships. It was obvious that only a particular skill, and only on a special night, could vanquish him. Drew McIntyre was the first to take the stage, looking ready to dethrone The Head of the Table. The Scottish Warrior was the famous warrior battling for every single fan in the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

It was a fantastic moment, constructed on the history of these two stars and their common ascension to the top. It was nearly surprising when Solo Sikoa intervened and saved Reigns. Nobody believed McIntyre hadn’t pulled it off. This is one of the few matches that will eternally define this reign, and many consider it a squandered chance.

2. Roman Reigns vs. Sami Zayn, Elimination Chamber 2023

The match between Reigns and Zayn was spectacular. However, this was taken a step further by a compelling plot that had been developed over months. By joining The Bloodline, the Honorary Uce became the most popular wrestler. His enormous personality was contagious, and the crowd fell in love with him prior to him flipping on Reigns. The two recognized just how to utilize the advantage of the audience. The near-falls were memorable. When The Head of the Table triumphed, the whole audience fell quiet in disbelief. It was an unsettling experience.

1. Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes, WrestleMania 39

Roman Reigns won the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the main event at WrestleMania 39, extending his historic reign as world champion. Cody Rhodes appeared to have won the bout, but Solo Sikoa attacked him with a Samoan Spike as Paul Heyman distracted the referee, allowing Reigns to deliver the Spear and pin him.

Earlier in the bout, The Usos attempted to intervene in favor of their cousin while the match official was hurt, but Rhodes was saved by Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. However, it was all for naught as Reigns won thanks to Sikoa’s intervention.
