Unexpectedly, the WWE has filed a complaint against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in an attempt to stop the disclosure of an agreement about the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, venue of the 2023 Royal Rumble. The world’s most famous wrestler claims that the agreement contains confidential information and is a “trade secret.”

Judge Ken Paxton of Texas was the target of legal action taken by WWE around a week and a half ago, according to Wrestlenomics. With relation to the 2023 Royal Rumble, the WWE and the city of San Antonio, Texas, have an agreement governing the hosting of the event. The WWE has filed a complaint to obtain a judgment and an injunction against the release of this agreement.

The legal action is a reaction to information demands for specifics of the 2023 Royal Rumble event submitted by Wrestlenomics and Intelligence Options, LLC. WWE argues that the contract with San Antonio is a “trade secret,” including confidential information protected by a public information law exemption in Texas.

WWE’s Trade Secret Defense

WWE Senior Vice President of Communications Chris Legentil issued a statement stating the promotion’s position. He stressed how the disclosure of private information regarding WWE’s finances and negotiating terms might have a detrimental effect on the company’s ability to negotiate.

WWE and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton conflict with two organizations’ requests for information about the 2023 Royal Rumble, which is the source of the legal drama. Although San Antonio was initially excused from having to disclose contract terms, Paxton reversed the ruling in January 2024, which prompted a legal challenge from WWE.
