Paul Heyman reveals Roman Reigns' decision amid pandemic, WWE star's chose to consider retirement

Paul Heyman, known as the Wiseman of The Bloodline, recently shed light on WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns’ decision not to return to WWE during the COVID-19 pandemic. In an interview with “Uproxx Sports,” Heyman disclosed that Reigns had contemplated retiring from WWE to prioritize his family and health.

During the pandemic, Reigns, hailed as “The Tribal Chief,” took a hiatus from WWE, considering himself retired and adamant about not returning. Heyman, who served as the executive director of “WWE Raw” at the time, revealed the sentiment among backstage personnel at “WWE SmackDown,” expressing a desire for Reigns’ return despite his firm stance on retirement.

Heyman recounted his interactions with the SmackDown team, where many expressed their longing for Reigns’ return while acknowledging his steadfast decision. Despite the clamor for his return, Reigns remained resolute in his choice, leaving many convinced that he wouldn’t come back.

Heyman reflected on Reigns’ comeback, describing it as nothing short of miraculous, considering the prevailing belief that he wouldn’t return. Reigns’ decision to step away during the pandemic, coupled with his frustrations with his character’s creative direction and his medical history, underscored the significance of his return to WWE.
