Cody Rhodes is one of WWE’s top talents right now. He just won the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble battle and is slated to compete for the WWE Universal Title against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39. Vince Russo, a former WWE and WCW writer, reportedly claimed that he liked Cody Rhodes’ promos. But, he did not say the same when he delivers them by himself.
‘The American Nightmare’ is one of the few WWE stars that is universally adored by fans. Most of it is due to his ability to elicit sympathy through his commercials. Cody Rhodes’ latest RAW mic brawl with Paul Heyman deservedly earned him praise from fans and pundits alike.
Vince Russo remarked on Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Writing with Russo that he didn’t love Cody’s solo promos as much as his interactions with others. Russo highlighted Sami Zayn while addressing the “Best Promo of the Year” award in the Sportskeeda Wrestling Awards, stating he wasn’t the proper choice because he genuinely shone on the mic in 2023.
“You see, bro, I like Cody when he’s in there with somebody. I don’t like Cody when he’s cutting promos by himself. I like when he’s in there with somebody. Sami…Sami didn’t have any serious promos in 2022; I don’t believe. Serious ones I’m talking about. He didn’t do the turn in 2022,” said Vince Russo.

Despite rumors that WWE might change the main event of WrestleMania 39, it will be Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes vs. WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a one-on-one contest. According to sources, the match will most likely be the closing match of WrestleMania night two.
The American Nightmare won the Royal Rumble battle in 2023 and went on to confront Roman Reigns for the Universal Title at WrestleMania. Nevertheless, because of Sami Zayn’s rapid ascension as the top babyface and his angle with Reigns, many speculated that he may be added to the bout. There are presently no such plans.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer has reported that Rhodes vs. Reigns will be the big event of WrestleMania Hollywood’s second night. He stated that there are no firm arrangements for which match would be the night one conclusion. The top challenger for the SmackDown Women’s Title is currently Charlotte Flair vs. Rhea Ripley.
”Reigns vs. Rhodes is expected to headline the second night. There is no decision on the main event past an internal feeling that Charlotte Flair vs. Rhea Ripley right now is the favorite. If there is Usos vs. Zayn & Kevin Owens, one would think that would be the other favorite.”
