WWE's Former two-time champion says she was treated like "sh***" during Royal Rumble 2021

Victoria, the former WWE Women's Champion, has only wrestled twice since the COVID-19 pandemic began, but it appears that one of them left a bad taste in her mouth.

Lisa Marie Varon, better known as Victoria in WWE, has said that she was “treated like s**t” backstage when she returned to WWE. Victoria was the #10 entrant in the 2021 Women’s Royal Rumble, which was her first WWE ring encounter in almost a decade. Varon, a two-time former WWE Women’s Champion, lasted more than seven minutes until being defeated by Shayna Baszler in the match’s sixth elimination.

Victoria had her first WWE appearance in nine years at the 2021 Royal Rumble, and she wasn’t pleased with the way she was handled. Lisa Marie Varon mentioned her experience on the newest episode of the GAW Podcast, not identifying it directly but referring to it as when she “came back to WWE.”

Varon’s remark came in answer to a query on how she works with other wrestlers and whether she adheres to any norms or routines. Varon said that she always strives to be nice and courteous to people, even if she doesn’t know them well or has had problems with them in the past.

Varon while discussing backstage decorum with fellow wrestlers Bully Ray and Mickie James on the Grown Ass Women Podcast said:

“I was treated like sh*t when I came back to WWE backstage. And I was like ‘You know what? How I got treated by some of the people? I will never treat a human like that. Ever.’ I’m gonna be the welcoming arm, like ‘Hey! Welcome to [insert promotion name]!’ If they last two days? OK, they last two days, they’re not gonna last very long. But who are they gonna say [they want to work with]? They’re gonna say ‘I want to work with Lisa.’” h/t – Wrestling Inc

Victoria was paid well for her 2021 Royal Rumble stint

Varon made a surprise cameo in the 2021 Royal Rumble for women, entering at eleven and lasted just over seven minutes. Victoria is no longer a wrestler, but she is still involved in the wrestling scene as one of the co-hosts of GAW TV. Victoria addressed her Rumble performance and working with Mickie James and So Cal Val for GAW TV with Taylor Wilde on Wilde On.

I still feel like I’m part of it,” Victoria said when asked about being outside of wrestling following her retirement. “When you have a podcast, you’re still kind of involved in wrestling. I’m retired, I won’t get in the ring anymore unless it’s like the Royal Rumble. WWE is a big platform and they paid very well. I’m not saying hundreds of thousands of dollars or anything like that, it was more than what I’d make from guest appearances on Indy shows.”

She continued, “I think Mickie James was supposed to do GAW TV, they were talking about it with Alica Fox. Alicia kind of has a private life and wants to be on the backburner. She reached out to So Cal Val and then my name came up and they reached out and were like, ‘Do you want to be part of the show?’ ‘Yeah, when are we starting?’ ‘Are you serious, do you want to hear what it’s about?’ I go, ‘No, if I get to talk to my friends on video chat.'”
