Throughout his historic tenure as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns has smashed record after record. In WrestleMania 39, he will now compete against Cody Rhodes for his valuable crown. Last week on SmackDown, the two made a fantastic promo in which they discussed Dusty Rhodes. Reigns’ statements throughout the segment, however, were untrue.

Cody Rhodes’ father, according to Roman Reigns, never mentioned him and was always more interested in following Reigns’ advancement. He implied that Cody had little significance to his late father and that the Tribal Chief was The American Dream’s prime objective.

Reigns’ comments, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, were falsehoods and had no basis in reality. He said that Dusty Rhodes had a strong stake in Cody’s professional development and would experience emotional distress if The American Nightmare was scheduled to lose in WWE.

”For the record from people who worked with him daily, they would say that Dusty’s mood for the week was mostly built around if Cody was getting a push on Raw or not. If Cody was used well, Dusty would be in a great mood all week, and if he wasn’t used well, Dusty would be in a bad mood all week,” said Meltzer.

Can Cody Rhodes dethrone Roman Reigns?

During WrestleMania 38, Cody Rhodes made his comeback to the WWE, and he has since gone on an incredible run. Rhodes has a perfect singles record and also took first place in the 30-man Royal Rumble. He is unlikely to triumph at WrestleMania, though, as Meltzer predicted Roman Reigns will defend the WWE Universal championship in May:

”You know, The American Dream’s son wins in Arabia. That’s, that’s an ironic twist, but I don’t, I don’t expect that to happen. But Roman will probably defend against somebody there,” said Meltzer.

There is no question that the WrestleMania match will be great regardless of who wins. The encounter will serve as the main event of WrestleMania Hollywood’s second night, according to the current schedule.
