Cody Rhodes fought Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the main event of WWE WrestleMania 39 night two – a little over two weeks ago. Reigns won the match, extending his dominating reign as WWE World Champion. To say the least, reactions to Rhodes’ loss to Reigns have been divided, both inside the business and among fans.

Dustin Rhodes is proud of his brother Cody’s WWE success, and he supports the company’s current storyline with Cody. Cody lost his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship bout to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, and Dustin chimed in on the situation on Busted Open Radio.

“They’re making him pay for it now,” Dustin said. “They’re making him earn it, and I like that. I do. I like that, because once you put the title on him, where are you going?” Dustin also shared that he is both proud and slightly jealous of his younger brother, as Cody is currently on the road to achieving what he and his father were never able to do — win a world championship in WWE.”

“I’m extremely proud of him,” Dustin continued. “I wish him the best, and he’s going to be world champion — I know it. I don’t know when, but he’s going to be world champion.” The AEW star stated that Cody will have to continue stepping up his game to achieve the big win, but he believes the company will be able to build up the same level of hype when the time comes to put the championship on Cody.” h/t wrestlinginc

Cody Rhodes is all set to fight Brock Lesnar at WWE Backlash 2023

WWE spent a week advertising this week’s Monday Night Raw with the promise of Brock Lesnar answering Cody Rhodes’ challenge for a match at Backlash on May 6, 2023, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. But that’s not how it actually happened.

Instead, Rhodes entered the ring first and attempted to personally summon Lesnar to the ring. He was welcomed by Adam Pearce, who informed him that Rhodes was not medically cleared to compete on this particular night and that he should please proceed backstage. Naturally, Rhodes portrayed the antihero, refusing to submit to authority and demanding Brock’s presence, as is typical of WWE babyfaces. By the time he got it, Pearce had already offered him a deal: simply back off, don’t make a fuss, and he’ll have his battle with Lesnar at the WWE Backlash.
