Ronda Rousey is being courted by WWE executives to return to the promotion.

According to Fightful Select, the former Raw Women’s Champion has been spoken about so much in WWE that it is now considered a “poorly kept secret,” with whispers of a comeback leaking out of the company and reaching talent who don’t even work for the company.

Rousey’s name has been suggested in connection with this Saturday’s Royal Rumble 2022 event, either as a participant in the eponymous women’s bout or in another capacity. Her participation (and precise role) at the event on January 29 has yet to be confirmed.

In the women’s Royal Rumble, WWE still has 9 open places, providing plenty of room for surprises.

After giving birth in September, Rousey has been preparing for a comeback to the ring, according to Fightful’s sources. Within the promotion, her return is now seen as a matter of “when, not if.” Talk regarding her returning to WWE for the first time since WrestleMania 35 is now louder than it has been since she left the company in April 2019.

Rousey’s contract with WWE was slated to end in April 2021. Her re-signing with the promotion has gone unnoticed, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t transpired discreetly behind the curtains.

Former WWE Champion and Royal Rumble

Rousey has already been at the Royal Rumble, having made a surprise debut in 2018. She was rumored to have acquired a full-time deal with WWE at the moment, and she debuted in the ring at WrestleMania 34.

After winning the Raw women’s title at SummerSlam 2018 and holding it for 231 days until her final match, the former UFC champion was quickly pushed to the top of the women’s division.

Despite her brief stint in WWE, Rousey had the opportunity to wrestle with some of the top female wrestlers in the world. In 2018, she fought Nikki Bella in the first and only all-pay-per-view women’s Evolution. She defeated Sasha Banks, Bayley, Natalya, Nia Jax, and Mickie James to retain her championship.

Rousey’s most recent WWE debut came in a triple threat match with Becky Lynch and SmackDown women’s title Charlotte Flair. It was the first time a WrestleMania main event featured a women’s bout. Lynch won the match and was awarded the Raw and SmackDown championship titles.

So, with many unlimited possibilities, let’s wait for WWE Royal Rumble and know whether Rousey is interested in coming back to the company or not.
