Dominic Mysterio has been the buzz of the town since turning heel, and he is one of the most-watched superstars on the way to Wrestlemania 39. The former Smackdown Tag Team Champion is determined to square off against his father, Rey Mysterio, at the Show of Shows.

Dominik initially appeared in WWE as a child in 2005 and returned to the screen in 2019. He debuted in the ring against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2020 and has been a TV regular since. In WWE, numerous superstars have played the roles of father and son. So, is the relationship between Dominik and Rey real or a plot device?

So, those who doubt Rey Dominik’s father, clear your doubts as Rey Mysterio is the blood father of Dominik Mysterio. It’s just that WWE is trying to bring back the storyline in remembrance of the late Eddie Guerrero.

In 2005, the Eddie Guerrero – Rey Mysterio storyline included Rey’s little son Dominik, whom Guerrero claimed was his real son. This resulted in a weird ladder match between the two men, with Dominik’s custody papers hanging above the ring. Unfortunately, Eddie Guerrero died just a few months after the match, but 18 years later, Eddie Guerrero is as relevant as ever because of Dominik Mysterio being on WWE television every week.

Also, again to put everyone’s mind at ease Dominik Mysterio is the son of Rey Mysterio it’s just part of the WWE storyline where WWE plans to pit a father vs son match at the grandest stage of all.

Dominik Mysterio wished Eddie was his real father

An enraged Dominik continued to berate his family for failing to protect him on Monday night  “WWE Raw,” but it was the final piece of his promo that elicited an uncomfortable gasp from spectators in Phoenix, Arizona.

“What kind of father hits his own son? What kind of mother sits there and does nothing? The silence was deafening,” Dominik said, referring to the now-viral segment from last week’s “WWE SmackDown” where Rey finally accepted his son’s WrestleMania 39 challenge. “I should have told my mom to shut up a long time ago.”

Dominik then mentioned Rey and Eddie’s 2006 “Custody Of Dominik Ladder Match,” which Rey won. “Dad, I’ve never said this out loud, but I wish Eddie was my real father and you never existed,” Dominik said while staring into the camera. “Because my entire family is a disgrace to the Mysterio name, and the Mysterio name will be mine at WrestleMania.”

Dominik’s sad promo was followed by a singles match between Rey and Damian Priest that ended in a Disqualification. Following the contest, Dominik and Priest assaulted Rey until the Legado del Fantasma intervened.

Fans on social media have speculated that Dominik might arrive for his match at WrestleMania 39 in Eddie’s distinctive low rider, as he continues to pay homage to Eddie with his mannerisms, dress sense, and mullet. To further imitate Eddie, Dominik has started executing his distinctive shimmy and frog splash.

Rey vs. Dominik this weekend will be the first father-son match at WrestleMania since WrestleMania 17, when Vince McMahon faced off against his son Shane McMahon.
