Lacey Evans was a notable figure in WWE. She has bid her farewell as her contract reportedly reached its expiration on August 15. Dave Meltzer, during the recent “Wrestling Observer Radio,” delved into the factors that potentially contributed to her departure.

Reflecting on Evans’ journey, Meltzer recalled her initial transition from “NXT” to the main roster, marked by a substantial push. “She had that giant push at first… it was the craziest thing ever,” Meltzer reflected. Yet, her trajectory took a perplexing turn as her exposure waned after the initial push. “She would get the weekly vignettes and not a push at all,” he added. Interestingly, Vince McMahon, who championed her cause, played a pivotal role in her sporadic appearances.

A Shift in Fortune: The McMahon Factor

With Vince McMahon relinquishing his role as the head of creative in July 2022, Evans’ television presence dwindled. The impact was palpable as her screen time diminished. Earlier this year, Evans underwent a character transformation, embracing a military gimmick reminiscent of Sgt. Slaughter’s. However, this venture yielded only a couple of one-sided victories. Her recent track record saw her losing the last three televised matches in 2023, culminating with her final appearance on “WWE SmackDown” in June.

Evans embarked on her WWE journey in 2016 when she signed with “WWE NXT.” Her participation in the 2017 Mae Young Classic showcased her early potential. Transitioning to the main roster in 2019, she made a memorable impact by entering the women’s Royal Rumble match at number one. A defining feud with Becky Lynch for the “Raw” Women’s Championship ensued, marking a significant chapter in her career. Notably, Evans and Natalya etched their names in history with the first WWE women’s match at a Saudi Arabia event.

Her final high-profile feud unfurled in early 2020, as she embraced the role of a babyface and challenged Bayley for the “SmackDown” Women’s title.

As Lacey Evans’ WWE journey comes to an end, her departure marks a shift in the wrestling landscape. From high-profile feuds to unique character transformations, her path was defined by its ups and downs. While her contract may have ended, her legacy within WWE remains as a testament to her contributions to the industry.
