Sharath Kamal defeated Singaporean paddler Quek Yong Izaac in straight sets in the men's singles quarter-finals on Saturday.
Veteran Indian paddler Sharath Kamal has been in outstanding form this year at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. The Indian will face home favourite Paul Drinkhall in the first men’s singles semi-final on Sunday. Sharath Kamal defeated Singaporean paddler Quek Yong Izaac in straight sets in the men’s singles quarter-finals on Saturday. The score at the end of the match was 4-0 in the Indian’s favour. The score-lines in each of the games were 11-6, 11-7, 11-4, 11-7 respectively. Things will not be easy, however, against Drinkhall. Apart from being an exceptional table tennis player, Drinkhall will have home advantage playing to his strengths and egging him on for victory against the veteran Indian. Sharath Kamal will certainly have his hands full on the day.
Sharath Kamal will take on Paul Drinkhall in the semi-final of the men’s singles event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games on Sunday, August 7. As per the official website, the match is scheduled to begin at 4 pm pm BST (8:30 pm IST).
