The Indian did pose a threat in the last couple of sets but Drinkhall just managed to see him out.
Gnanasekaran will face Paul Drinkhall in his bronze medal match. Drinkhall was up against the veteran Sharath Kamal in his semi-final match and was beaten 4-2. Set by set, the score was 11-8, 11-8, 8-11, 11-7, 9-11, 11-8 in the Indian’s favour. India might have two medalists on the men’s singles table tennis podium by the end of Monday, and that is exactly what Gnanasekaran will be aiming for as well.
