Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic has finally completed his EUR 70 million move from Fiorentina to Juventus after successfully undergoing a medical in Turin. Vlahovic, who turns 22 years on Friday, has joined the Bianconeri on a five-and-a-half year deal worth EUR 7 million net per season. Fiorentina will receive EUR 70 million over three years, for the player as well as EUR 10 million in objective-related add-ons. His agent will also receive around EUR 11 million. Meanwhile it is one of the most expensive transfers ever between Italian clubs.

Vlahovic is one of the hottest strikers in world football right now. He was linked with a mega-money move to Arsenal before opting to remain in Italy and now has put pen to paper on his contract and put an end to all the rumours after a host of interest in his signature.

“Today is really a special day for me and one of the most special and happy birthdays I’ve ever experienced so far,” Vlahovic said after Juventus presented him with a cake and candle in the team’s changing room at Allianz stadium.

Vlahovic has scored 20 goals in 24 matches in all competitions for fiorentina this season and is on joint top of the Serie A scoring charts, along with Lazio’s Ciro Immobile, both of them have netted 17 times in the league.

After clinching the signature of the Serbian, Juventus said “It would be reductive to describe Dusan as simply a force of nature. In addition to his physical prowess, he displays outstanding technique, power, class, and all-importantly, a clinical coldness in front of goal.

“A penalty box predator, 93% of his goals in Serie A, 41 out of 44, were scored from inside the penalty area, and already this campaign, he is the player who has attempted most shots, 75.

“These are numbers of this lethal striker. These are numbers to be updated together, game after game.”

Juventus are currently languishing at the fifth spot in the Serie A points table. The Bianconer’s biggest problem has been scoring goals. They have managed to score only 34 goals this season, fewer than any of the top 10 teams in the league.

Since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United, Massimiliano Allegri’s side have struggled in front of goal. Vlahovic could be a perfect replacement for Ronaldo, having matched the Portuguese legend’s feat of 33 league goals in a calendar year.
