Linn Maria Grant, popularly known as Linn Grant, is a Swedish golfer competing on the LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour. Born into a family with a golf background, Grant is the granddaughter of James Grant, a Scottish golf professional who migrated from Inverness, Scotland, to Helsingborg, Sweden. The Grant family has a notable history at North Berwick Golf Club, with James winning the Scottish Boys Championship and Linn claiming the British Amateur Stroke Play Championship nearly five decades later. Unfortunately, Linn lost her grandfather at the age of six. Her father, John Grant, is also a seasoned golfer, having secured multiple victories on the Swedish Senior Tour.
Linn Grant finished as a runner-up at the 2018 Major Champions Invitational in Florida, placed fifth at the European Ladies Amateur Championship in 2019, and advanced to the semifinals of the 2019 British Ladies Amateur. These achievements led to an invitation to the prestigious Augusta National Women’s Amateur in 2019. She was also a vital part of the 2017 European Junior Solheim Cup team and helped her team in the Continent of Europe’s triumph in the 2019 Vagliano Trophy. In 2018, Grant won the Women’s British Open qualifier but missed the cut in the main event after challenging rounds.
During her time with the Arizona State Sun Devils, Grant won her first college tournament at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Honolulu in 2020. That same year, she was in contention at the U.S. Women’s Open and also competed on the Nordic Golf Tour as she won the GolfUppsala Open. She narrowly missed winning the Skaftö Open, but later clinched the Swedish Match Play Championship, following in the footsteps of Swedish golfers like Anna Nordqvist and Caroline Hedwall.
Grant turned professional in August 2021, ranked 4th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. After turning pro, she had two second-place finishes on the Ladies European Tour and her first professional win at the Terre Blanche Ladies Open in France. In December 2021, she earned her LPGA Tour card, and in early 2022, she continued her winning streak on the Sunshine Ladies Tour in South Africa, and at the Joburg Ladies Open.
In June 2022, Grant became the first woman to win on the European Tour, now known as the DP World Tour, by winning at the Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed. This mixed-gender event, held in Sweden, saw her competing against a field of both men and women. She then won the 2022 Skaftö Open, having been the runner-up in the previous two years. She claimed her first LPGA Tour title, with her victory at the Dana Open in July 2023 which was a significant achievement as she became the 14th Swedish golfer to triumph on the prestigious tour.
