Her journey in golf began at just the age of 12 when she scripted history as the youngest athlete to earn a spot in the U.S. Women’s Open. Lexi transitioned to professional play in the middle of 2010 at just the age of 15. On September 18, 2011, the golf community witnessed Thompson’s brilliance when she conquered the Navistar LPGA Classic at the age of 16 years, seven months, and eight days as she set the benchmark for the youth.

After three months, at the Dubai Ladies Masters, Lexi Thompson defeated the field by four strokes and secured her status as the runner-up in youth victories in the Ladies European Tour’s history. She continued to rise as at the 2014 Kraft Nabisco Championship as she was celebrated as the second-youngest golfer to clinch a major title on the LPGA Tour, a ranking she maintains within the top five to this day resulting in a major victory, where at 19 years, one month, and 27 days old. The 2007 U.S. Women’s Open had seen her as the youngest entrant, a title surpassed in 2014 by Lucy Li.

Lexi Thompson then went on to win the Aldila Junior Classic and the Westfield Junior PGA Championship. This made her the youngest in history to win these titles. With a second-place finish at the Evian Masters in 2010, she earned $242,711 as she contributed an early career earnings total of $314,842, a figure that would have placed her 18th on the LPGA’s money list had she been a full-fledged member. Her petition to the LPGA in December 2010 for increased tournament participation via sponsor exemptions established the stage for her landmark win at the Navistar LPGA Classic in 2011.

Thompson’s achievements expanded with back-to-back wins at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia and the Lorena Ochoa Invitational in 2012.
