Hailing from Mossel Bay, South Africa, Louis Oosthuizen is a professional golfer and has been a popular name since his major victory at the 2010 Open Championship. He is known for his second-place finishes in all four major championships, including the 2012 Masters, the U.S. Open in 2015 and 2021, the 2015 Open Championship, and the PGA Championship in 2017 and 2021. Oosthuizen’s best world ranking was fourth place which he accomplished in January 2013. He started his professional career in 2002 at 19, following a series of amateur victories. Oosthuizen defended his Africa Open title in 2012 and achieved an albatross at the Masters Tournament, only the fourth ever in the tournament’s history and the first to be televised. He rose to the top 10 in the global rankings in September 2012 and finished the year as the third-ranked player on the Race to Dubai. In January 2014, he narrowly won the Volvo Golf Champions. He tied for second place in the 2015 Open Championship. He triumphed at the South African Open 2018, a joint event of the European, Sunshine, and Asian Tours.
In the 2019 Presidents Cup in Australia, his team was narrowly defeated by the U.S. team. Oosthuizen continued to make his mark with a second-place finish at the 2021 U.S. Open. A significant shift in his career occurred in June 2022 when he joined the LIV Golf series and resigned from the PGA Tour which resulted in his suspension from the PGA Tour.
