Atthaya Thitikul is a Thai professional golfer who has been making waves in the international circuit. At just 14, she won the Ladies European Thailand Championship on 9 July 2017 as she surpassed the achievement of Canadian Brooke Henderson. This victory cemented her as the youngest to ever win in a professional golf tour event. As an amateur, she held the world number one title for 12 weeks, reaching the top on 26 June 2019. At the JTBC Classic on 27 March 2022, she clinched her first LPGA Tour title victory. At just 19, she had collected two LPGA Tour victories and four on the Ladies European Tour. She climbed to the top of the Women’s World Golf Rankings on 31 October 2022 as she earned the title of golf’s fastest-rising star. On November 10, 2022, she was declared the 2022 LPGA Tour Rookie of the Year.
She was born in Ban Pong, Ratchaburi, Thailand, on February 20, 2003. She was introduced to golf at six years old by her parents, Montree Thitikul and Siriwan. After honing her skills and completing her education at Sarasas Witaed Nakhon Pathom School, Thitikul made a memorable first appearance at the Honda LPGA Thailand, collecting a 37th-place finish. Some of the highlights in her career are winning the Taiwan Amateur Open and a dual gold medal performance at the Southeast Asian Games. She clinched the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship at 15. Her performance at the HSBC Women’s Champions tied her as the youngest starter, and her last round was a six-under-par 66.
Upon turning professional in 2020, Atthaya Thitikul made a strong impression in Australia and earned a second-place finish at the Honda LPGA Thailand. Her professional wins began with the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open and continued with a second-season victory at the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open which led her to claim both the Ladies European Tour Order of Merit and Rookie of the Year titles. Her world ranking advanced after a top finish at the HSBC Women’s World Championship. Thitikul’s ascent in the world rankings earned the coveted LPGA Tour Rookie of the Year accolade.
