Dean Burmester is a South African golfer who holds a presence in the LIV Golf League, besides making his impression on the European Tour and the Sunshine Tour. Burmester was born on June 2, 1989, in Mutare, Zimbabwe, but opted to represent South Africa in his professional golfing career. Coming from a family with a strong sporting background, his father Mark Burmester was a former international cricketer for Zimbabwe, and his mother Michelle is renowned for holding a record at the Royal Harare Golf Club.
To date, Burmester has earned eight wins on the Sunshine Tour. His notable victories include winning the Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe Open in 2015 and the Tshwane Open in 2017, an event co-sanctioned by the Sunshine Tour and the European Tour. He embarked on his professional journey in golf in 2010. Burmester secured his second European Tour win at the Tenerife Open in May 2021. He clinched the title by recording an outstanding final round of 62, surpassing Nicolai von Dellingshausen by a margin of five shots. Later that year, he further added to his achievements by winning the Sunshine Tour’s PGA Championship, marking his eighth victory on the tour.
Dean Burmester‘s journey took him to the Korn Ferry Tour in 2022, where he finished fourth at the Albertsons Boise Open. His performance at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship, finishing T46, helped him secure a spot in the Top 25 of the Korn Ferry Tour Finals. This also fetched him a PGA Tour card for the 2022–23 season. The year 2023 marked a new chapter for Burmester as he joined the LIV Golf League in February. At the Joburg Open ( 2024 season) Burmester delivered an exceptional final round of 64, finishing with an overall score of 18 under 262 as he won the tournament.
