Min Woo Lee, an Australian professional golfer, has made a name for himself on both the PGA and European Tours. His career highlights include winning the 2020 ISPS Handa Vic Open and the 2021 Abrdn Scottish Open on the European Tour, along with the 2023 SJM Macao Open on the Asian Tour. Beginning his golf journey as an amateur, Lee clinched the Drummond Junior tournament in 2013 and again in 2014. He went on to win at the Western Australia Amateur in 2015 and subsequently bagged his third Drummond Junior title. He rose to prominence with a notable win at the 2016 U.S. Junior Amateur over Noah Goodwin. Prior to turning professional, Lee also triumphed in the Western Australia Amateur and South Australia Amateur Classic.
Min Woo Lee‘s professional debut in 2019 saw him competing on the European Tour, where he finished fourth in the Saudi International and tied for fifth in the ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth. His season ended with a 117th ranking in the Order of Merit. At the Genesis Championship on the Korean Tour, he finished sixth. He came in third at the AVJennings NSW Open and then tied for third in the Australian PGA Championship which was an early season tournament on the European Tour in 2020.
The 2020 year was an exceptional year for Lee as he captured his first professional win at the ISPS Handa Vic Open. This was followed by a memorable playoff victory at the Abrdn Scottish Open in 2021. The victory secured his entry into the prestigious Open Championship in 2021. In 2023, Lee achieved a temporary membership on the PGA Tour and later clinched the SJM Macao Open, setting a record with a 30-under-par score.
Min Woo Lee’s parents, Soonam and Clara Lee moved to Australia in the 1990s. His sister, Minjee Lee, is also a professional golfer. Together, they are the first brother-sister pair to win USGA junior championships. Minjee has won two major championships to date – the Amundi Evian Championship and the U.S. Women’s Open. Lee’s presence on social media platforms has garnered him a large following and unique recognition in the golf community.
