India’s Aditi Ashok delivered a sensational performance in the closing holes to earn a thrilling two-stroke win over Netherlands’ Anne Van Dam at the Andalucia Costa del Sol Open de Espana 2023. This final event of the Ladies European Tour (LET) saw Aditi, aged 25, clinch a remarkable victory and cap off her season in the same way she started it. She had previously triumphed at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open 2023, the season-opener, in February by a commanding nine shots.

Aditi’s season has been exceptional, with noticeable improvements in her swing that has resulted in enhancing her game significantly. Apart from her two victories on the LET, she also secured the runner-up spot at the Saudi Ladies International and third place at the Lalla Meryem Cup, both in February, along with a silver medal at the Asian Games 2022 in Hangzhou.

Aditi Ashok’s performance in the event

Entering the final rounds of the Andalucia Costa del Sol Open de Espana 2023 tied for second, Aditi was initially trailing Anne Van Dam, a golfer with five LET victories to her name. After posting scores of 69, 68, and 68 in the initial rounds, Ashok played an exceptional bogey-free final round of 66, finishing at 17-under-par. Her performance witnessed consecutive birdies on the 15th, 16th, and 17th holes, which eventually clinched her fifth LET title and her second victory of the season.

This marked her most significant win to date as Aditi Ashok earned a substantial €97,500 as the winner’s prize. She completed the tournament with a 17-under par score (69, 68, 68, 66 = 271), defeating Anne Van Dam who finished at 15-under par (69, 71, 65, 68 = 273). Meanwhile, Aditi’s compatriot Diksha Dagar tied for seventh place with a 10-under par score (72, 71, 68, 67 = 278). Despite participating in only eight events, Aditi was impressive as she ranked fourth in the LET Order of Merit standings (LET final standings 2023), with Diksha collecting the third spot. Thailand’s Trichat Cheenglab claimed the top rank, despite finishing tied for 55th in the tournament.
