Jin Young Ko represents South Korea and is one of the most prominent golfers in the world at the moment. She went on to win the Canadian Women’s Open in Aurora, Ontario, and clinched the season’s money title, bagged the Vare Trophy for maintaining the lowest scoring average, and earned the prestigious title of LPGA Player of the Year.
Competing in just four tournaments in 2020, Jin Young Ko managed to top the LPGA’s official money list. In 2021, Jin Young Ko continued her form by once again winning the official money title and being named the LPGA Player of the Year. Her significant win that year was the BMW Ladies Championship in her home country, marking the 200th victory on the LPGA by a South Korean. This win solidified Ko’s status, making her the fifth South Korean to achieve at least 10 career LPGA victories.
In one of her stellar performances, Jin Young Ko matched Annika Sörenstam’s record by delivering 14 consecutive rounds in the 60s. In 2022, she defended her title at the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore, and in May 2023, she reclaimed her position at the top of women’s golf. Surpassing the legendary Lorena Ochoa, Ko holds the record for the most weeks as the world number one in Women’s World Golf Rankings with 159 weeks as of June 2023.
