Trabzonspor will host Copenhagen in the second leg of their Champions League qualifying playoff at the Medical Park Stadyumu on Wednesday night. The first leg at Parken last week had ended 2-1 in favour of Copenhagen courtesy of goals from Viktor Claesson and Lukas Lerager. Meanwhile the Turkish outfit had pulled one back through Anastasios Bakasetos. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 5-2 defeat to Antalyaspor in a Turkish top flight fixture last Sunday, while Copenhagen defeated Lyngby 3-0 in a Danish Superliga match two days earlier.

Trabzonspor, who won the Turkish Superlig title last term to earn a spot in the Champions League playoff, have to shake off two disappointing defeats in succession to earn their place at Europe’s elite club football competition. In their recent outing against Antalyaspor, Abdullah Avci’s side suffered their first league defeat of the new season. Enis Bardhi netted a brace for the Black Sea Storm, but goals from Fernando, Haji Wright and Gokdeniz Bayrakdar helped Antalyaspor take all three points.
Copenhagen, on the other hand, have made a mixed start to their 2022-23 Danish Superliga campaign, registering three wins and three defeats from their opening six games. In their recent outing against Lyngby, Viktor Claesson netted a brace while Pep Biel converted from the penalty spot to secure the win.
Trabzonspor boss Avci is likely to opt for a 4-1-4-1 formation with Abdreas Cornelius leading the line. Mahmoud Trezeguet and Jean Kouassi could occupy the flanks with Manolis Siopis sitting in front of the back-four. As for Copenhagen, head coach Jess Thorup is unlikely to change the winning formula. Biel could lead the line with Claesson and Haraldsson in support. Rasmus Jensen and Lukas Lerger are expected to pull the strings in the midfield.
Trabzonspor probable starting lineup: Cakir, Stryger, Larsen, Hugo, Gartra, Elmali, Bardhi, Siopis, Bakasetas, Kouassi, Cornelius, Trezeguet.
Copenhagen probable starting lineup: Ryan, Diks, Vavro, Khocholava, Kristiansen, Falk, Zeca, Lerager, Haraldsson, Biel, Claesson.
The Champions League qualifier between Trabzonspor and Copenhagen will take place at Medical Park Stadyumu on Thursday at 12:30 am IST.
