Tottenham, who missed out on European football for the first time in 14 seasons, courtesy of finishing eighth in the 2022-23 Premier League standings, will be bidding to secure a top four finish under the Australian tactician in upcoming English top flight. Spurs have already signed couple of players this summer, bringing in James Maddison, Pedro Porro, Dejan Kulusevski, Guglielmo Vicario and Manor Solomon. Following their brief stop over in Australia, the North London club will host Shakhtar Donetsk in a charity match, before facing Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy.
West Ham, on the other hand, started their pre-season with a comprehensive 4-1 win over Boreham Wood at Meadow Park on July 10, before defeating A-League side Perth Glory 6-2 in the South Pacific on Saturday. Jarrod Bowen scored twice, while Gianluca Scamacca, Emerson Palmieri, Danny Ings and Divin Mubama also got on the scoresheet for the English outfit in Perth. Although David Moyes’ men finished 14th in the 2022-23 English top flight standings, they will be competing in the 2023-24 Europa League having defeated Fiorentina 2-1 in the showdown to lift the Conference League title last month. After the game against Spurs, the Hammers will face off against Dagenham & Redbridge, Rennes and Bayer Leverkusen in exhibition games this summer.
