Swansea City will be bidding to extend their unbeaten run to six games in the EFL Championship when they host Preston North End at Swansea.com Stadium on Wednesday night. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday, while Preston suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Millwall. The Swans are currently occupying 13th spot in the English second tier standings, having collected 56 points from 42 games, 14 clear of the relegation zone and seven adrift of the top six. The visitors, meanwhile, are sitting at the tenth position, with 62 points to their name, just a solitary point shy of the playoff spot.

Swansea City secured all three points against Huddersfield thanks to Ryan Manning’s lone goal in the second half. The result extended the Swans’ unbeaten run to five games, while winning four of those matches, scoring six goals and conceding only two in that period. Meanwhile, it was also their 15th second tier victory of the season. Russell Martin’s side have the 12th best home-record in the Championship this term, having won nine of their 21 games at Swansea.com Stadium. Joel Piroe has once again been the talisman for the Welsh outfit this season, with the Dutchman netting 16 league-goals so far.

Preston on the other hand, suffered their 14th league-defeat of the season against Millwall on Saturday courtesy of two unanswered goals from Tom Bradshaw and Zian Flemming. The result ended their three-game winning streak. Invincibles have recorded 17 second tier victories this term and their latest success came against Reading (2-1) on Monday thanks to Thomas Canon’s 56th-minute opener and Brad Potts’ dramatic winner two minutes into the injury time. Preston have the fourth-best away record in the division this term, having taken 35 points from a possible 63 on the road. Ryan Lowe’s side secured a narrow 1-0 win over the Swans in the reverse fixture in November last year courtesy of Potts’ goal on the half hour mark.
