Ghana entered the game with two wins in their last five games and were desperate for points following their 3-2 defeat to Portugal.
Ghana bagged all three points in a World Cup thriller against South Korea to go top of Group H. South Korea and Ghana faced off in Matchday 2 of Group H of the FIFA World Cup at the Education City Stadium. South Korea made three changes to their lineup, with Moon-Hwan, Min-Jae, Young-Gwon, and Jin-Su taking over on the defense. Jung and Hwang were in the centre, with Kwon, Jeong, and Son flanking Cho. Seung-Gyu Kim began in between the posts. South Korea would like to improve on their goalless draw with Uruguay at the Education City Stadium.

Meanwhile, Ghana made three changes to their XI after Portugal edged a 3-2 victory, switching to a 4-2-3-1 formation with Ati-Zigi starting as their number one. Mensah, Salisu, Amartey, and Lamptey started as the back four. Samed and Partey started in the middle, with Jorden Ayew, Andre Ayew, and Kudus supporting Inaki Williams. Ghana entered the game with two wins in their last five games and were desperate for points following their 3-2 defeat to Portugal.
South Korea made a promising start and broke into a counterattack when Kwon delivered a cross into the penalty box, only for Amartey to save a good ball. Jordan Ayew broke the deadlock by sending a dangerous ball into the Box while Salisu was unmarked. Ghana took the lead after scoring with his left foot. Ghana was hungry for more, so Ayew sent another cross, which Mohammed Kudus deftly glanced past the South Korean goalkeeper to give Ghana a crucial 2-0 lead.
South Korea were a completely different team in the second half, responding brilliantly as the stadium erupted. Lee sent a great cross, and Cho attacked the pass with a diving header, scoring past Ati-Zigi to bring South Korea back into the game. The Asian team struck once more, with Kim Jin-Su sending a deep cross to Cho, who leapt above the Ghanaian defender to score his brace and put South Korea back in the game. Ghana kept their cool and came back to make it 3-2, courtesy of Mohammed Kudus, to reclaim the lead and all three points.
