The Slavists have already begun their preparations for the upcoming season, recording a pair of 2-1 wins against Rakow Czestochowa and Maccabi Haifa earlier this month.
Queens Park Rangers will play their first pre-season friendly ahead of the 2023-24 Championship campaign on Saturday, when they square off against Czech outfit Slavia Prague at Raiffeisen Arena on Saturday. The Slavists, meanwhile, have begun their preparations for the upcoming season, recording a pair of 2-1 wins against Rakow Czestochowa and Maccabi Haifa earlier this month. Both sides had contrasting season’s last term, with the Czech outfit narrowly missing out on a Fortuna Liga title against their bitter rivals Sparta Prague, while the Hoops finished 20th in the 2022-23 EFL Championship standings, with 50 points to their name from 46 games, just six points above the drop zone.
Slavia Prague ended their 2022-23 league campaign with three successive wins against Sigma Olomouc, Viktoria Plzen and Slovacko. But, prior to that, the Red and Whites suffered a 3-2 defeat to Sparta Prague and it turned out to be a season-defining result as both sides finished the Championship round with 78 points each to their names. Meanwhile, the Slavists began their preparations for the 2023-24 campaign last Sunday, as two different teams locked horns with Maccabi Haifa and Rakow Czestochowa, and both outfits came away with come-from-behind 2-1 wins to their name. Following Saturday’s clash with Super Hoops, they will finalise their preparations against Dynamo Dresden before the new Czech First League begins in the third weekend of July.
QPR, on the other hand, were embroiled in a relegation dogfight in the EFL Championship and in the end managed to extend their stay in the English second tier for at least one more season, despite winning just two of their last ten league-games. Meanwhile, Reading and Wigan Athletic’s point deductions no doubt benefitted the Hoops. Nevertheless, Gareth Ainsworth’s men will conclude their Austria training camp against Virwarts Steyr next weekend, before returning to base to take on AFC Wimbledon, Reading and Oxford United later tis month, and will commence Championship duties at home to Watford on August 5.
