Rennes will host Fenerbahce in a Europa League fixture at the Roazhon Park on Thursday night. Both sides had secured victories in their respective Group B games of the continental competition last week. The hosts secured a 2-1 win over AEK Larnaca last Thursday, while Fenerbahce defeated Dynamo Kyiv with a similar scoreline in their opening match of the competition on the same day. Rennes, then, went on to thrash Auxerre 5-0 in a Ligue 1 fixture last weekend. Meanwhile, the Turkish outfit didn’t have a league match at the weekend, therefore Jorge Jesus’ side are heading into the match with a couple of extra day’s rest.

Rennes got the better of Larnaca in Cyprus in a thrilling fashion. Arthur Theate put the visitors ahead on the half-hour mark, before Larnaca leveled the score through Oier Sanjurjo. Just when it looked like the points might be shared, Lorenz Assignon netted a 94th-minute winner to help Rennes snatch the victory. After that, the Red and Blacks put five goals past Auxerre without reply. Kamaldeen Sulemana, Amine Gouiri, Martin Terrier, Flavian Tait and Matthis Abline netted for the Ligue 1 outfit to secure all three points. It was Rennes’ third league win of the campaign in seven games.
Fenerbahce, on the other hand, also earned a dramatic injury-time winner last week against Dynamo Kiev. The Turkish outfit took the lead through Gustavo Henrique, before Viktor Tsyhankov leveled the score for Dynamo Kiev. and then, summer-signing Michy Batshuayi sensationally found the back of the net in the 92nd-minute to grab all three points for his side. The Yellow Canaries, although, haven’t made a great start to their Turkish top flight season, recording three wins from their five games to be sitting at the seventh position in the standings, with 10 points, four behind leaders Konyaspor.

Rennes has a number of injury concerns, with the likes of Jeremy Doku, Arnaud Kalimuendo, Baptiste Santamaria and Warmed Omari occupying the medical room. Abline is likely to lead the line with Bourigeaud, Majer and Sulemana in support. As for Fenerbahce, full-back Nazim Sangare is sidelined with cruciate ligament injury, while the rest of the squad is fit and ready to go. King is expected to partner Pedri up front with Kadioglu and Alioski occupying the flanks.
