Real Betis will host Ludogorets Razgrad in a Europa League fixture at the Benito Villamarin on Thursday night. Both sides had secured victories in their respective Group C matches of the European competition last week. The hosts got the better of HJK Helsinki 2-0 last Thursday, while Ludogorets defeated As Roma 2-1 on the same day. Betis then went on to secure a narrow 1-0 win over Villarreal in a La Liga fixture last Sunday, while the visitors thrashed Botev Vratsa 4-0 in a Bulgarian top flight match on the same day.

Real Betis, who finished fifth in the La Liga Santander last term to earn a spot in the group stages of Europe’s second tier club competition, began their continental campaign with a comprehensive victory. Manuel Pellegrini’s side put two goals past HJK without reply, courtesy of William Jose’ brace. The Green and Whites then defeated Villarreal courtesy of Rodri’s lone goal in the 62st minute, last Sunday. It was Betis’ fourth La Liga win of the campaign from five games. The Greens are now sitting at the third position in the Spanish top flight table with 12 points, just three behind leaders Real Madrid.

Ludogorets, on the other hand, secured a thrilling victory against pre-tournament favourites Roma last week. The Bulgarian outfit broke the deadlock through Cauly Souza, eighteen minutes from time. Although the Serie A side equalised through Eldor Shomurodov in the 86th-minute, Nonato netted the winner for the Eagles two minutes later. Meanwhile Ante Simundza’s side have made a strong start to their domestic campaign as they have won seven and drawn one of their opening eight league games to pocket 22 points and sit at the summit of the First League standings. In their recent outing against Botev Vratsa, Kiril Despodov netted a brace, while Matias Tissera and Souza scored one goal each for the Eagles to secure the win.

Probable Lineups

Real Betis has a number of injury concerns as the likes of Victor Camarasa, Nabi Fekir, Juanmi and Victor Ruiz are occupying the medical room. William Jose, who netted a brace against HJK, is likely to lead the line with Joaquin, Canales and rodri in support. As for Ludogorets, Thiago could be the central striker with Tekpetey, Cauly and Despodov operating around him.
