Real Madrid put four goals past Barcelona without reply at Camp Nou to secure a 4-1 aggregate win and go through to the final of the Copa del Rey, where they will meet Osasuna on May 6. Vinicius Junir opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time, before Karim Benzema netted a second-half hat-trick to seal the win. Prior to that, Carlo Ancelotti’s side thrashed Valladolid 6-0 at home thanks to Benzema’s hat-trick and one goal each from Rodrygo, Marco Asensio and Lucas Vasquez. It was their 18th top flight victory of the season. Los Blacnos have the second-best home-record in the league this season, having collected 31 points from 13 matches at Bernabeu.
Villarreal secured a comprehensive win over Real Sociedad last weekend, thanks to two unanswered goals in the second-half from Dani Parejo and Nocolas Jackson. The result extended their unbeaten run in the league to five games, winning four of them, while scoring 10 goals and conceding just two in that period. The Yellow Submarine have recorded 13 top flight matches this term and five of those have come on the road. Villarreal suffered a surprise elimination to Anderlecht in the Europa Conference League last month, but the exit will allow Quique Setien’s men to concentrate on the league for the remainder of the season.
