The days of Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger’s commitment to one club has long gone. It is not mainly the manager’s fault but it has more to do with the massive expectations of modern owners. With a lot of money being invested in football, teams cannot afford to have a slow start even under a new manager. They have to get the ball rolling from day one. With club owners losing patience quickly, it becomes extremely difficult for a manager to stay long at one team. Despite these difficulties, some managers tend to hold on to their position at the helm of the club longer than one would expect. Let us look at those longest serving managers in the Premier League right now:

1) Jurgen Klopp – Liverpool (7 years 177 days)

It is incredible to think in the modern day a manager has been able to stay at one club for more than seven years. In the old days, a head coach is given time to settle in at a club and build his team without having too much pressure on his shoulders. Those days are long gone. If any manager can stay at a club for three or more years in the current situation, it must be considered a successful spell. And to Jurgen Klopp’s credit, he has done an amazing job in bringing the glory days back to Anfield. His Liverpool side has won just about everything from the Champions League to a long-awaited Premier League title. Klopp is rightly backed by the club despite their poor form this season.

2) Pep Guardiola – Manchester City (6 years 275 days)

Whatever Pep Guardiola touched has turned into gold so far in his managerial career. Having taking Barcelona to unimaginable heights during his stay at the club, he almost replicated the same with Bayern Munich in Germany. The latest club to benefit from his services is Manchester City. He has turned them into a real force and has made the Etihad outfit the strongest team in all of England. It has been so long since the blue half of Manchester being the dominant club in the city. With Man City very much in what a chance to end the season on a high in various competitions, it is a great time to be their supporter.

3) Thomas Frank – Brentford (4 years 169 days)

The third name on the list is an extremely surprising one. Couple of years ago, Brentford were not even in the Premier League but now they are one of the teams to fear in the division. Not many clubs fancy to travel to Gtech Community Stadium due to the high-intensity and physical game play of the home side. Thomas Frank must be given the credit for not only bringing Brentford into the English top flight but also making them into a force to be reckoned with.

4) Mikel Arteta – Arsenal (3 years 102 days)

The patience shown by Arsenal owners in Mikel Arteta seems to have been finally rewarded. The Spaniard took some time to settle down at the Emirates Stadium. The club went through a tough phase, struggling to break the established order at the top end of the table. However, his fortunes have changed for good this season. Arsenal have clearly punched above their weight to sit at the top of the Premier League table. Recent run of draws has seen Manchester City close down the gap to the top spot. Irrespective of what happens at the final weeks of the campaign, this will end up being a massive confidence booster for the Gunners.

5) David Moyes – West Ham United (3 years 95 days)

The job David Moyes has done at West Ham United cannot be underestimated by any stretch of imagination. He took over a club that was languishing at the wrong end of the table and helped make them a team to fear in the division. Even though their league form has been worrisome this season, their run in the Europa Conference league cannot be praised enough. With West Ham set to play the semi-finals of a major European competition, their fans can undoubtedly dream of having a fairy-tale end to the campaign.
